SIRUP announced that he will donate 10% of the sales from his original denim shirts created in collaboration with “SYU.HOMME/FEMM” (sold on April 24) to “HOTEL SHE/LTER”, a project that matches low occupancy hotels with those who are in need of safe temporary shelter.
Participating hotels will be rented out as a safe shelter for those who have concerns about staying at home, regardless of whether that be for reasons regarding safety, health or convenience. Intended users include essential workers who work at supermarkets, office workers who prefer to live closer to their workplace instead of taking the train everyday, people living with elderly family members with health concerns, people who don’t feel safe at home, etc.
“HOTEL SHE/LTER” has also launched a donation platform where individuals and corporations can contribute to the project. The donations collected through the platform will be used for further coordinating with medical institutions, as well as towards preparations for nationwide expansion.

SIRUP has made the choice to donate to “HOTEL SHE/LTER” via ties with SustAim, an independent music support community launched by producer / DJ starRo and music agent Daniel Takeda.
“SustAim” aims to create a sustainable independent music culture that can remain resilient and unwavering, even in an industry with rapidly changing standards and values.
Their goal as a community is to provide independent musicians and creatives with industry and mental health support, as well as foster an environment where resources can be shared in order to support a sustainable future in the Japanese independent music scene.
HOTEL SHE/LTER is planning to continue collaborating with SustAim in the future, with a mutual goal to contribute to the development of a bridge between “music and hotels”, such as collaborating to make hotel rooms a more attractive and enjoyable place, as well as raising funds for charity projects through collaborative projects with artists.
《HOTEL SHE/LTER selected by SIRUP》
As a part of the collaboration project, SIRUP has also created a playlist titled “HOTEL SHE/LTER selected by SIRUP”, available on Spotify and Apple Music.
The playlist includes songs by SIRUP, POPS Kenkyukai, TENDRE, CIRRRCLE, Daniel Caesar, PJ Morton, Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean and more, and was created with the intent to allow the listener feel happy and at ease, even if they may be at a hotel away from their own home.
SIRUP has explained the playlist as below.
“I created this playlist with the hope that whenever you listen to the songs in order, you can first immediately be transported into a good mood, and then eventually relax into a peaceful slumber towards the end. I also wanted to convey a strong personal message, so I selected songs that mean a lot to me- songs by my close friends, songs that I usually listen to, songs that I used to cry to, and songs that I wrote myself.”

【Personal statement by SIRUP】
“Worried about staying at home? We can provide hotels that act as a shelter to keep you safe.”
When I read this message by HOTEL SHE/LTER for the first time, it overlapped with my concerns regarding current social issues, and since I also strongly resonated with the project’s philosophy and values, I immediately decided to choose HOTEL SHE/LTER as my donation destination.
Due to the impact COVID-19, I receive messages every day from friends and fans, describing in painstaking detail how the pandemic has affected their lives- friends whose family member works as a paramedic, a profession that puts them at high risk of infection, friends who are worried about having to commute to work, and fans who are healthcare workers, who are on the verge of breaking down because their workplaces are in constant chaos. Furthermore, having grown up around violence survivors, I am also highly concerned about the damage caused by domestic abuse, especially because the number of victims is expected to increase with the extension of stay-at-home orders.
The COVID-19 pandemic is not something irrelevant to us, and neither are these pressing social issues. I strongly believe that social support for such victims and minorities should be continuously provided, even when the COVID-19 pandemic successfully dies down, which is another reason why I was moved by the way that HOTEL SHE/LTER acknowledges the existence of these people, and caters to their needs.
Music affects society, and society affects music. Music is only able to fully exert its power in a world where society can function normally, and where those in need of help can receive the support they ask for.
I believe that it’s important for artists to support and contribute to society, and I hope for a future where those currently suffering from anxious and lonely days can be relieved of their pain. This is why I plan to continuously collaborate with HOTEL SHE and contribute to the HOTEL SHE/LTER project – this is truly just the beginning.
